Prime

vanou:

We were supposed to go see another movie, but ended up going to see this one.
And we weren't disapointed.
It was funny, sad, and true.
Age difference does matter, especially when the woman is older ;-)

It's one you want to see.
Maybe not at the movies, but go see it.

mp:

I rented this movie on a rainy wednesday night.
it was nice and light, i thought uma was great.

I liked the ending. It was more real than you would expect from a romantic comedy.
It was pretty good.

Domino

vanou:

OK movie, wanted to see it, but I won't watch it again.
It's nice to see a girl kicking some ass.
As it was nice watching that hot guy.
The story is not that entertaining.
But then again, they did have to fallow the real thing a little bit.

so... yeah, not a "rental", but a "tv watch" in a couple of years.

Hotel Rwanda

vanou:

A movie everyone has to see.
This movie is extremely powerful, as it tells the story beautifully.
All the actors do a tremendous job at portraying the people involved.
And the images stay with you well after the movie is done.

It's incredible how powerless you feel after this.

Jarhead

vanou:

A movie everyone should see about the marines, war and life.
It's about the first Gulf War and the fact that he war was over before most of them got to see any action.
Jake Gyllenhaal is really a good actor and I'm always happy to see him do what he does best, act.

So this was a strong movie
Go see it.

In Her Shoes

vanou:

Watched In Her Shoes yesterday.
It was good.
Again, wasn't what I was expecting.
Cameron Diaz plays the loser sister that can't read.
And Toni Collette plays the fat lawyer sister that doesn't know how to live...

It sounds wierd. But it's a decent movie.
It's again about life, making choices, and sticking by the ones you love.

And not that many pairs of shoes...

Yeah, you can go rent it.

MP:

Watched that one a long time ago, when it hit the theatres in Adelaide.
I also thought that there would be lots more about the shoes, but I guess that's what the tag line is: those two sisters had nothing in common other than their shoe size.

Made me miss my little sis, I have to admit. How much your sister drives you nuts doesn't matter at the end, because she is your sister, and you love her no matter what.

I loved Shirley McLaine in this movie and the great chemistry Colette and Diaz had on screen. It is one of your good ol' feel good movies. It's not bad. I liked it.

The Weather Man

vanou:

Saw the weather man with Nicolas Cage...
It was wierd.
You kept waiting for the punch line...
But there wasn't any... well there was kinda one... but it was wierd...
It was a bit like American Beauty...
When the film ends, you have that feeling in the pit of your stomach...
You're not sure what you're suppose to feel...

I would suggest it.
But don't expect it to be funny, or that dramatic for that matter...

Basicly it's was a wake up call.
Live your life, anyways it comes, cause it's the only one you have.

Walk the Line

MP:

I know nothing about Johnny Cash. Absolutely nothing. So I was really just along for the ride. I was intrigued by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon in this film.
And boy was I not disappointed. They were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I had never seen Reese in such a complex, layered and dramatic role. She was perfect.

Good story. Cool wardrobe. There were too many handheld shots for my taste (cause like half of them were out of focus), but hey. It was a great film, I really loved it. It was great to see the characters evolve on such a long period of time. Beautiful.
